Open Access Policy

The European Journal of Oncology is committed to the principles of Open Access (OA), ensuring that all published content is freely and permanently available online without subscription or access barriers. Open Access promotes the widest possible dissemination of oncology research, advancing knowledge and supporting better outcomes for patients and the medical community.

In alignment with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), the journal defines Open Access as follows:

  • All peer-reviewed articles are freely accessible immediately upon publication, with no embargo period.
  • No subscription fees or paywalls are applied to readers.
  • Published content may be read, downloaded, distributed, and reused for academic and educational purposes, provided appropriate citation of the original work is maintained.

Note: Some materials included in articles (such as figures, tables, or text excerpts from other sources) may be subject to third-party copyright restrictions. In such cases, users must obtain permission directly from the original copyright holder before reuse.

Open Access Information and Policy

The European Journal of Oncology publishes all articles under an Open Access license, ensuring that content is freely available online to all readers without any subscription or access fees. This model allows research to be read, downloaded, shared, and reused, provided proper accreditation and citation are maintained.

Open Access publication is supported through an Article Processing Charge (APC) applicable to accepted manuscripts. This ensures sustainability while enabling unrestricted global access to oncology research.

License

All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) License, permitting unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. By adopting the CC BY license, the journal supports free exchange of knowledge and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Advantages of Open Access

Open Access benefits authors, researchers, and readers by removing subscription barriers and increasing visibility, citations, and impact. It ensures that findings reach a global audience beyond institutional or financial limitations.

Additionally, Open Access supports timely dissemination of knowledge, as accepted articles are typically published online more rapidly than in subscription-based journals.

Data Sharing Policy

The European Journal of Oncology encourages transparent and reproducible research. Authors are urged to share data, materials, and resources supporting their findings to allow validation, replication, and further research.

Data may be deposited in recognized repositories, with details provided in the article or as supplementary files. Any restrictions on data availability, including ethical or confidentiality issues, must be disclosed at submission.

Data Availability Statement

As part of peer review, authors may be required to provide a Data Availability Statement, including repository details, links, and citations for shared data. Authors remain responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all datasets provided. Editors and reviewers evaluate compliance with the data sharing policy.

By adopting an Open Access model, the European Journal of Oncology strengthens global collaboration, accelerates discovery, and ensures equitable access to knowledge in oncology research.
