The European Journal of Oncology accepts only original manuscripts that have not been published previously, are not under consideration elsewhere, and are not in press with other journals, books, or publishing outlets. Duplicate or simultaneous submissions will not be considered.

All correspondence regarding a manuscript must be conducted through the designated corresponding author, who is required to provide a valid institutional email address. Submissions without this requirement will not be processed for peer review or publication.

Submission Components

1. Cover Letter

A cover letter is mandatory for all submissions. It should briefly explain the relevance of the article to the scope of the journal and highlight how the work contributes to advancing oncology research and practice.

2. Title Page

The title page must include:

  • Full names, academic titles, and institutional affiliations of all authors.
  • Contact details of the corresponding author, including a verified email address.
  • ORCID iD for each author to ensure accurate identification of their scholarly contributions.
  • A complete title (maximum 150 characters) and a short running title (maximum 60 characters).

The main text should be clearly organized, concise, and supported by appropriately formatted tables and figures. Each table and figure must be cited within the manuscript and include a descriptive title or legend.

References should be numbered consecutively in the order they appear in the text. Superscript Arabic numerals should be used without parentheses.

Document File Formats for Submission

Manuscripts must be submitted as a single Microsoft Word file (.doc or .docx) containing all required sections, excluding figure files. Pages should be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals at the bottom of each page. In addition, authors are required to include continuous line numbering throughout the manuscript to facilitate the peer review process and any subsequent revisions.

Copyright Transfer Agreement

For all manuscripts accepted for publication in the European Journal of Oncology, authors are required to complete and sign a Copyright Transfer Agreement (CTA). The signed CTA is a mandatory condition of publication; manuscripts will not proceed to production until the editorial office has received the completed form.

Once submitted to the European Journal of Oncology, manuscripts may not be sent to other journals. Upon acceptance, copyright for the article is transferred to the Publisher, while authors retain the right to use their work for academic, teaching, and non-commercial purposes with proper citation of the original publication.

The corresponding author will receive the appropriate CTA form from the editorial office. The completed and signed form must be returned either by email to [insert official journal email address] or uploaded directly through the online submission system at the time of manuscript submission.

The Editors reserve the right to make editorial adjustments to style and format. Substantial changes, if necessary, will be discussed with the corresponding author. The final decision on the timing of publication remains with the Editors.

Third-Party Permission and Trademarks

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts do not include material protected by copyright unless proper authorization has been obtained. Any use of copyrighted third-party content—defined as material not originally created by the author(s)—requires written permission from the copyright holder, typically the original publisher.

Third-party content may include, but is not limited to: figures, photographs, illustrations, charts, tables, equipment or tool images, and material reproduced from websites, books, journal articles, theses, reports, or conference proceedings.

Documentation verifying permission to use such content must be obtained prior to submission and forwarded to the editorial office at editor@ejoncology.it for archiving. Authors should retain copies of all permissions for their records.

The use of proprietary names, trademarks, or brand names must be clearly identified with an initial capital letter and accompanied by the appropriate acknowledgment of ownership.
